Top 7 Food for Supper in KL

Posted by DT On October - 26 - 2009

You just stepped out of the club. You are tired. Sweaty. You’ve dancing the funky chicken for the past 4 hours. Your hand reached into your pockets. You found it. The car keys.

You turn on the engine. Rest awhile. Suddenly you hear your something growling. You searched for the source only to find that its your tummy. You are famished.

Now you crave for food. KL has the choicest food outlets to choose from. From the 2-man operated Ramlee Burger to the wide-scale franchised outlet such as McDonalds. After all, Kuala Lumpur is the haven of food.

Its Food Galore!!!! Come, lets explore.

The List

7. Lok-Lok Mobile

Lok Lok Mobile

Lok Lok Mobile

With advanced mobility, you can almost always spot these trucks along the nightspot area from the clubbing streets to the place where people hangout to cheer for their favorite team at night. Most of them are non-Halal though, especially the juicy ‘babi’ meatballs.

6. Dim Sum

Midnight Dim Sum

Midnight Dim Sum

Nothing is able to sober the drunken master except for hot brewed chinese tea. When you are enjoying the dim sum of har kau and siew mai, the chinese tea helps to recuperate from the poison of alcohol.
Favourite spot : Jalan Ipoh Dim Sum, Cheras Dim Sum at Tmn Connaught and Jalan Pudu Dim Sum (Behind Jalan Pasar)

5. McDonald’s

McDonalds

McDonalds

Sleepless? Hot? No Internet Access? McDonald’s have it all. And it’s cheaper too compared to the pricey Starbucks. We found that it has 24-hours TV Ads running at the corner with unlimited wi-fi access and bottomless Coca-Cola… 3 words – “Mana Mau Cari”???
Favourite Hideout : McD at the Tmn Connaught, Jalan Kuari and Jalan Pahang
*ps: always manage to find some college chicks lepaking there

4. Ramlee Burger

Ramlee Burger

Ramlee Burger

Who will not be seduced by this humble piece of meat? Ramlee… the greatest invention since the wheel. Tons of mayo and tomato sauce, a splash of black pepper sauce, a drop of baked beans and a few slices of ice cold apple. Meet the 8th sin. *burp*

3. Tai Chow

Tai Chow

Tai Chow

What else? Hokkien mee fried in lard. Tons of it, topped with crispy crunchy lard. If you are on diet, forget it. Lard is your best friend from now on. Hokkien bee hoon is not bad either. Otherwise, the mildly soupy cantonese fried noodle is good for the soul too.

2. Bak Kut Teh

Bak Kut Teh

Warm and loving. BKT is like your mom

1. Mamak!!!

Mamak

Mamak

Mamak – a place where you can find variety of food, with people from all walks of life. SS2 Murni, Steven’s Corner and many more

Speaking about the food in the middle of night makes me hungry. Time to call up Chilakak members’ for supper.

Note: credits to those images I ripped of from them.

Correct Way to Cook Maggi

Posted by IMHO On October - 7 - 2009

The correct way to cook instant noodles without harming our bodies and health. `Normally, how we cook the instant  noodles is to put the noodles into a pot with water, throw in the powder and let it cook for around 3 minutes and then it’s ready to eat.

This is the WRONG method of cooking the instant noodles.

By doing this, when we actually boil the ingredients in the powder, normally with MSG (Aginomoto), it will change the molecular structures of the MSG causing it to be toxic.

Selamat Buka Puasa

Selamat Buka Puasa

It is the month of fasting. Everyone will bring their customers or clients to buka puasa in the luxurious hotels. Buka Puasa as in breaking the fasting, it is a practice among all Malaysian where we bring the clients for a feast. At times, the decision factor is the price as well as the selection of menu. Doing buffet will never go wrong!!!

There will be vast variety of selection to pick from making it the simplest way to bring the client and make them happy (besides from the Happy Ending massages, if you know what I mean)

Thanks to my admin girl who is kind enough to compile the list of the hotels for my use. Ehmmm. Nice but then I still have no idea about the quality and the selection of food available. :| coz no free meal for us at Chilakak. I know, a little chilakak betul.. what to do, review burns our pocket. Heh!

W Hotel Coffee

Posted by IMHO On May - 26 - 2009

Remember those old 1 on 1 fighting games like King of Fighters and Fatal Fury? They have this thing call Desperation Move. Usually a player can do it when they are about to die.

Well, this is our desperation move. Its call make-coffee-with-any-given-beans.

We found out today, in the absence of our Executive PA, the usual Nescafe Gold was not replenished in the pantry. Everyone was running around asking everyone else for 3 in 1 coffees. As far as I know, only our GM drinks 3 in 1. Naturally, no one dared to ask him for it.

Just after lunch, dColl offered us her W branded coffee which she took from W Hong Kong. We know each of these can make at least 2 cups, but we needed something to brew it in. Hence the Nescafe Gold jar. What a useful little thing. In went the sachet and some hot water. Stir stir stir…

Let it sit and swim in its hot jacuzzi. Then start to pour it out into our cups. The aroma by this time is wafting through the pantry, into the corridor forcing itself into noses, taking control of coffee deprieved brains.

We couldn’t stand it anymore. The first sip is like heaven. Like the kiss from the angel of death. Sweet yet bitter. Like our first orgasm, we went “AAAaaaaaahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh”.

The coffee is delicious. I wouldn’t mind staying at W Hotels just for the priviledge of drinking its exquisite coffee. Best!
