Oxyfresh=nice

Posted by IMHO On March - 10 - 2010

Reading about the product review from Bro.dSaint, I got bitten by the Oxyfresh bug too. So after awhile of using the toothpaste, I noticed that my girlfriend kisses me more often. More tongue too. The fact that she is a silky terrier is beside the point.

Satisfied with what dSaint wrote abt the products he tried, I went on to explore one other product. Incidently, I suffered a small cut right on the corner of my mouth. So I purchased the Oral gel.

Do not underestimate this small tube of wonder. I applied once before work and once after work shower. It only took 4 applications and my mouth is back to normal. Now I can enjoy the kisses my gf gives me without worrying about deseases. Oh! You know the feeling when you applied the other oral gels? You get this feeling like you’ve been stung or someone poured salt over your would? This gel doesn’t. Totally painless. Just a slight cold feeling. Tasteless.

If dSaint’s recommendation is the mouthrinse, mine is this oral gel. Simply AWESOME!! Btw, reading its product info, you can use this gel on other cuts and bruises anywhere on your body too. Awesome.

For more info and testimonies, check out their FB page. I’m a member already. Will you?

Ken Well Seafood Restaurant

Posted by DT On November - 24 - 2009

We had the opportunity to dine at a gem of a restaurant at Balakong the other day. The place is pretty hard to find unless you know your way around the town. Don’t worry, we have the coordinates for you at the end of this post. You can thank us by spending us dinner there. We will not give you a rain check.

Our dinner started with Hong Siu Guat Pai. Basically, this is pork ribs braised to the point of perfect tenderness placed on a plate of sweet gravy. The smell of this first dish instantly made my stomach growl in anticipation. Alas.. it was not to be. Cameras started snipping and snapping. Light flashes pushed away the hunger pang as cameramen started to rearrange the dish to make it look as appetising as possible. By the time everyone is done taking pictures, the smell has gone and so is the temparature.

I couldn’t wait though. As soon as the last flash was fired, my fork was already digging in. Each bite was heavenly. A top layer of fat followed by the most tender lean meat, each bite was like I’ve died and gone to pork heaven. Its too bad the portion was just enough for 4 persons. This my friends, is a must have if you dine here.

The next few dishes was superb as well. Gu Fart Song Yu Tao & Shang Bou Kam Fong. Both are fish dishes. I can’t even describe the taste here. It is so good, I can’t help but finish my rice just plain with the fish gravy. The aquarium sitting at the entrance of the kitchen clued us in that the fish is alive and well. Unlike other restaurants who overfill an aquarium, this once has ample space for the fishes to swim around ensuring its freshness and tenderness.

Next comes Guo Zai Hoi Xin Dao Hu.

Guo Zai Hoi Xin Dao Fu

This dish is pretty normal. Besides the crunchy fresh vege, the taufu was fried just to the perfect texture. The key point here is FRESH! So fresh if feels as if the vegetables was just plucked from a garden behind the shop and the seafood straight from the sea.

Guo Zai Hui Woh Yok came next. Pork! Yay! Tender slices of pork cooked in some special sauce. Its sauce is exciting, arousing the palate with such powerful stimulants that even though I was already burping, I just had to have a few more bites.

I thought we have reached the end of the makan session so I went for a little dessert. A puff of Dunhill Red to end a night of blissful makan session. Boy was I wrong. When I rejoined the group, the next few dishes was on the table getting their share of attention from the cameramen.

Xi Yao Gok Har

This prawn dish reminded me of the assam prawn dish that my mom used to cook back when I was staying with her. I wish they made the gravy a little bit more as I simply love sucking its gravy off the prawn shell. I can’t find the prawn aquarium, but I swear they prawns was cooked alive. The flesh was a delight with every bite. The only other time I had such succulent prawn was at the teppanyaki bar at Le Meridien’s Latest Recipe buffet.

Next in line for our taste bud was Sei Bou Dao Fu. From the outside, its just like a normal tau fu cut in the middle to make way for the mince meat. Like they say, “don’t judge a book by its cover”. It may look simple. It may sound simple, but its so superb, I wouldn’t attempt this in my own kitchen. The balance of texture and taste here is like the famous political icon. As balance as a trapeze. Only when you taste it you will know what I mean.

Ever tried deep fried kailan? Tastes exactly the same as seaweed. So from now onwards, you know where you can get cheaper seaweed. Sweet and crunchy I assumed that this dish is a dessert. Its not. For dessert, we got fresh fruits and some puddings. Yummy!

Field Report:-

I was ravishing for dinner that night while waiting for my Transformers 2 started. Wanted for a quick and simple dinner, I was also craving for curry. Yes. Those thick rich texture of the curry. Curry mee was all I wanted that night.

It seems that Oriental Cravings that serve what I wanted and to fulfill my gastronomic taste buds, I ordered Curry Mee along with the sticky rice. Cannot remember the description of it but  lo behold of the picture below.

What I like about the curry mee was the rich texture as I sipped the soup. Creamy and not that hot for those who cannot take spicy. Not much of photo being taken as I was busy galloping savoring the meal.

Reviews : WVC Trio + 1

Posted by DT On June - 3 - 2009

Being a KLPac Virgin so-called, it was my first time being into the vicinity of the place. The Kuala Lumpur Performing Arts Centre (klpac), or PentasSeni KL, is a not-for-profit company dedicated to the practice of traditional and contemporary performing arts, as well as education and community outreach.

Situated at the Sentul Park, Jalan Strachan (Off Jalan Ipoh), I reached there just in time for the concert to begins. The sun already set by the time I reached thus I couldn’t comment much about the place.

WVC Trio + 1 @ KLPac

WVC Trio + 1 @ KLPac

By 8.30pm, the Pentas hall was filled with the audience that range from all walks of life. I could see as young as 8 to the elderly. Music knows no boundaries. In this concert, I witness the premiere of many new compositions by Tay Cher Siang (the pianist), Vincent Ong (the bassist), and Adam Osmianski (the percussionist). This concert will also feature the Malaysian Man in New York, Julian Chan on Saxophone.

Among all the composition, I fell in love with “Standing in the rain at Berkeley Street” (if I am not mistaken), “Strolling in One Town” which Tay was referring to Bandar Utama and the “Cherish the Siamese Twin”. The CD which WVC Trio had the recording of the composition was selling like hot cakes which totally sold out.

Overall, the price paid is worthy. Simply said, AWESOME.

For those who missed it, they can opt for another local event, Let’s Go to Mamak Again, which last year the similar production “Let’s Go to Mamak” bagged 4 awards from the 7th BOH Cameronian Arts Award 2008.

W Hotel Coffee

Posted by IMHO On May - 26 - 2009

Remember those old 1 on 1 fighting games like King of Fighters and Fatal Fury? They have this thing call Desperation Move. Usually a player can do it when they are about to die.

Well, this is our desperation move. Its call make-coffee-with-any-given-beans.

We found out today, in the absence of our Executive PA, the usual Nescafe Gold was not replenished in the pantry. Everyone was running around asking everyone else for 3 in 1 coffees. As far as I know, only our GM drinks 3 in 1. Naturally, no one dared to ask him for it.

Just after lunch, dColl offered us her W branded coffee which she took from W Hong Kong. We know each of these can make at least 2 cups, but we needed something to brew it in. Hence the Nescafe Gold jar. What a useful little thing. In went the sachet and some hot water. Stir stir stir…

Let it sit and swim in its hot jacuzzi. Then start to pour it out into our cups. The aroma by this time is wafting through the pantry, into the corridor forcing itself into noses, taking control of coffee deprieved brains.

We couldn’t stand it anymore. The first sip is like heaven. Like the kiss from the angel of death. Sweet yet bitter. Like our first orgasm, we went “AAAaaaaaahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh”.

The coffee is delicious. I wouldn’t mind staying at W Hotels just for the priviledge of drinking its exquisite coffee. Best!

Free Flight Promotion

Posted by DT On May - 15 - 2009

Two of Malaysia airlines are fighting for the market share. This leads to the promotions from both Malaysia Airlines System (MAS) and AirAsia (AA).

MH Stimulus Package

MH Stimulus Package

MAS came out with the 9 Stimulus Package to boost the sales of air tickets. Most of the package allows to book the tickets flight until end of December this year while the other in 31st July. Grab-A-Deal for example is allows you to login to the system and choose which promotions that might interest you. I personally think it is just suitable for random people like me. As I browsing on the choices, suddenly be so interested to grab a ticket to Taipei, Taiwan.

MAS Grab-A-Deal

MAS Grab-A-Deal

Here is how simple this can be done and you are on your way to a holiday.

AirAsia  on the other hand launched the free 1,000,000 seats on both domestic and international flights. It seems to be an annual thing that caused the site to be slow. Reminds me of the e-Filling for the Income Tax in end of April this year. *note: if you experience slowness or page load error, keep refresh except when it is on the transaction/confirmation on the payment. This tips has been verified by Huei.

Flight Price from MAS

Flight Price from MAS

In the attempt to compare pricing with the MAS, here is the screenshot on the AirAsia. I am getting the extra as we need to do apple to apple comparison in order not to be bias.

Flight Price for AirAsia X

Flight Price for AirAsia X

Hence, the verdict?

MAS  RM 2,132

AA    RM 1,466

If were to travel by AA, it is cheaper by RM 666. It is good enough saving for the accommodation in Taipei with this excess cash. That is if I can make my mind by 15th May 2009, which is the end of the promotion.

Else, flying with MAS will proved to be better as the Grab-A-Deal package is open till end of the year. The choice is yours.
